Glove Case: the first gloves in the gold slot
Before this 28 November 2016 case, the rare special in a weapon case was always a knife.
Gloves replace the knife
The Glove Case broke with tradition in the rare slot. From 28 November 2016 the gold item was a pair of gloves, not a knife. Revolution, Recoil, Fracture and Snakebite are among the later cases that took up the idea and filled it with glove finishes of their own.
A change in the prize's shape did not make the odds friendlier. The rare special still sits near 0.26 percent, split among every glove finish in the case. 'Glove case' labels the prize table. It says nothing in favor of expected value.
Downside: a glove headline does not raise your odds. Judge the opening by the 0.26 percent slot, not by the prize.
The rare slot by the numbers: 0.26%
Open a standard weapon case and the rare slot turns up about 0.26% of the time. Wear sets the rest, and the odds guide has the ladder. Our take: covert fame shapes the red tier alone. Gold is as likely as it ever was.
